59 students graduate from Fatima Jinnah Dental College at the 19th Convocation

Karachi: The ceremony was attended by President CPSP, Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudary along with Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Professor Qaiser as the guest of honour. The faculty of FJDC, parents of the graduating students along with prominent members of dental fraternity were present at the ceremony. Dr Baqar Askari introduced the chief guest professor Zafar Ullah chaudhary, President CPSP. The convocation was declared open by the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Professor Muhammad Qaisar. The annual report of the Fatima Jinnah Dental College was followed by the opening by the Principal of FJDC, Professor Dr. Taslem Hosein. She praised the efforts of the faculty and appreciated their commitment and efforts towards their institution. Prof Qaiser gave the convocation address. He urged the students to serve with zeal and dedication. There is no short cut to success, he added. He spoke highly about the quality of FJDC and urged new Institutes to follow in its footsteps to keep abreast with the technical advances and urged the graduates to play a role in alleviating the sufferings of the ailing masses. Several prominent members of the dentistry including Dr. Innayat Padhiar, President Pakistan Dental Association, Prof. Dr. Saqib Rashi, Dr. Babar, Dr Abu Bakar and several others senior members of the fraternity were present at the ceremony. Professor Zafar Ullah awarded the certificates of distinction. 18 Gold medal were also awarded at the ceremony. 11 gold medal were  awarded to Dr. Asad Badami. He was also declared the best graduate of the 19th convocation of the FJDC. Prof Zafar Ullah chaudhary thanked Dr Baqar Askari for inviting him and congratulated him on establishing first private dental college in memory of mohtarma Fatima Jinnah. He recalled meeting Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Mohtarma in Shimla and paid tributes to them. He added that It's a great contribution by Dr Baqar Askari of elevating Dental education to this level. He said de'Mont College today had only 4 professors as against 11 when Pakistan came into being, it is praiseworthy that FJDC had such a distinguished faculty. He further added that CPSP has produced 650 dental specialists including 400 fellows over 1000 students currently enrolled. He stressed CPSP today needs periodontology teachers to start a new program at CPSP. He urged that more dentist should come in the field of Periodontology. He stressed that BDS today needs to hone their skills and should continue to pursue post graduate studies and the future of dentistry lies in specialization, he added. In the end he congratulated the parents and the graduates and acknowledged the services of CPSP to the dental profession, he concluded. In the end Mr. Hassan gave vote of thank.
