KARACHI- The significance of cleanliness and hygiene cannot be overlooked by any society. Every faith and civilization stresses the importance of cleanliness.Historically, cleanliness has beenconsidered one of the important factors to judge a civilization’s or society’s development.
The importance of cleanliness cannot be ignored in individual as well as communal life. On one hand it is an important factor for human health and spiritual development; on the other hand it is essential for environmental development.
On 2nd March, 2015, students of 1st year MBBS and 1st year BDS fromLiaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, spot fixed and cleaned up a street in the vicinity of their Anchor college. The idea was proposed by Dr. Shumaila Iqbal Mossa (Asst Prof. & Head of Department- Science of Dental Materials) and Dr. Zafar Abbas (MCPS Trainee-OMFS) for contribution towards “Project Cleanistan” and “Clean Karachi-Karachi Rises”. The idea was presented to Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi (Principal-Dental) and under his supervision the idea turned into reality.
A team of faculty membersand admin members was formed to manage the entire event and to communicate with the concerned authorities. The team was headed by Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi himself. The team comprised of:

Through this platform we challenge Fatima Jinnah Medical and Dental College and Dow University of Health Sciences–Dow Dental College to contribute towards Project Cleanistan and fix a spot for cleaning in the vicinity of their institution.-PR
