De’Montmorency College of Dentistry Receives Autonomous Status



 

Lahore - Najam Ahmad Shah, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab, stated that De’Montmorency College of Dentistry and its hospital have been granted autonomous status by the government.

Further, an independent Board of Management has been constituted to promote education and increase the dental health facilities.

He said this while presiding over a meeting in his office. Principal Prof. Dr. Waheed-ul-Hameed, MS Dr. Mushtaq Alam, Addl. Secretary (Tech) Dr. Salman Shahid, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Project Director Prof. Asif Ali Shah and other concerned officers of the department were also present in the meeting.

Najam Ahmed Shah said that the government would continue to issue support to the college and the hospital and would take necessary steps for the development of dental health sector, which has been neglected for several decades.

Formal approval from the Board of Management will now be required before finalizing any administrative or developmental decision pertaining to the college and hospital.

Najam Ahmed Shah asked to convene the first meeting of the Board at the earliest.

He said that immediate steps should be taken for recruitment on the sanctioned vacant posts of the dental college and the hospital. He directed to constitute a committee of experts to assess the requirements for promotion of dental health at the teaching as well as primary & secondary level.
