DIKIOHS handed over to Jinnah Sindh Medical University

DN Report Karachi Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), has formally handed over the Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS) building to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).  A simple ceremony was held at DIKIOHS which was attended by Special Secretary Public Health Sindh Dr Khalid Sheikh and Barkat Rajput of DUHS. On this occasion Barkat Rajput handed over the key of DIKIOHS to Vice-Chancellor JSMU Prof Dr Tariq Rafi. Prof Tariq Rafi confirmed that the Dental College has been formally handed over to JSMU and all preparations have been finalized to begin classes. He hoped that the University will achieve success in this regard. He further said, “We have published an advertisement for dental college faculty hiring.” He stated that admissions would be given to students purely on merit through NTS test for a total of 100 seats. It is pertinent to mention that DIKIOHS was established in the vicinity of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (formerly Sindh Medical College), and had therefore become a matter of conflict between DUHS and newly upgraded JSMU administration. DIKOHS had been affiliated with DUHS since its inauguration, while its building was established in the limits of Sindh Medical College. The institution has now been moved to Ojha campus and continues to be affiliated to DUHS and its building has now formally been handed over to the Jinnah Sindh Medical Univeristy, as directed by Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad.
