General dental practitioners’ moot held in Faisalabad DN Report

 
Faisalabad — The first National General Dental Practitioners' Conference" was held at University Medical and Dental College (UMDC), Faisalabad on Oct 20. The aim of the conference was to increase the use of latest techniques and advancements made in the field of dentistry in day to day general dental practice.
The well-attended moot was chaired by Health Sciences' dean, Prof. (Dr) Faqir Hussain while The University of Faisalabad's QEC director, Prof. (Dr) Abdul Majeed, was the chairperson. The IADSR's executive director, Prof. Ayyaz Ali Khan and the TUF's registrar, Mr Izhar-ul-Ihsan, were the guest of honours at the mega event. In his welcome address, the Conference President, Prof. (Dr) S A H Bokhari, highlighted the aims and objectives of the event while the Conference Secretary, Dr Mian Farrukh Imran gave vote of thanks. A seminar and a workshop were the two main components of the conference mThe conference comprising two sessions ed of two parts. The first part of Seminar included eight (8) state of the art lectures by the most experienced consultants in the field of dentistry. Prof Dr. Ayyaz Ali Khan, Prof. Dr. Samir Qazi, Prof. Dr. Moghees Baig, Prof. Dr. Ulfat Bashir, Dr. Arshad Malik, Dr. Agha Suhail, Dr. Arham Chohan and Dr. Hina Zafar Raja were the key speakers of this first part of the conference. Most of the distinguished and erudite consultants in dentistry along with more than 300 dental surgeons from all over the country graced the event with their presence. The second part of conference comprised of four workshops on Orthodontic Treatment Planning, Management of Pediatric Patients, Rotary Endodontics and Crown and Bridge facilitated by Dr. Ulfat Bashir, Dr. Arham Chohan, Dr Agha Sohail and Dr. Hina Zafar Raja respectively. All the technicalities and minor details of dental procedures were well elaborated to the participants of these workshops. In addition, these hands on workshops helped in answering all the queries of the growing dental community. This event will help in ensuring that only the quality dental treatment is being provided to the people of Pakistan. Chief organizers of the conference Dr. Bilal Ahmed and Dr. Tariq Javed supervised the conduction of workshops along with faculty members of the college. Certificates and souvenirs were presented to the guest speakers of this conference by senior dental practitioners of Faisalabad. Management and conduction of conference was highly commended by the conference participants. The conference mainly targeted the practicing dental surgeons from the Central Punjab and other parts of the country. This activity, quite startling for a city like Faisalabad, proved to be an eye catching event for the print and digital media. The lasting effects on this event will keep on expressing themselves among the dental community of central Punjab.
