IDS 2019 on its way into New Spheres

The exhibitor participation is heading towards a new record - optimisation of the hall structure to provide an even higher quality of stay

It is still good nine months to go before the global dental industry meets up in Cologne again for IDS, the leading global trade fair. The preparations for the 38th International Dental Show from 12 to 16 March 2019 are already in full swing. More companies have already confirmed their participation compared to the same period two years ago.  And new applications to participate at the leading trade fair for dentistry and dental technology are ingoing every day. After the record result of IDS 2017 with 2,305 exhibitors from 59 countries and over 155,000 trade visitors from 157 countries, the organisers GFDI and Koelnmesse, the company staging the event, are currently anticipating a further record result for the coming IDS 2019. "The strong interest from home and abroad shows that IDS is the preferred and above all must-attend business platform for the global dental industry," emphasised Mark Stephen Pace, Chairman of the VDDI in an initial statement. And Katharina C. Hamma, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, added: "Companies that want to be successful in this industry, have to attend IDS in Cologne." With the integration of Hall 5, where among others several large suppliers of consumer prophylaxis will be exhibiting, IDS is creating the necessary capacity for the strong demand on the part of the exhibitors and visitors. Hall 5 fits in optimally with the natural tour of the trade fair and is perfectly connected to the new entrance on the Trade Fair Boulevard, the visitor car parks on the surrounding parking lots as well as the shuttle bus station for the new trade fair car park. Furthermore, the additional hall further enhances the overall quality of stay for the visitors of IDS: the wide aisles and the light-flooded passages provide an improved orientation and lend the event an even better structure. IDS 2019 covers Halls 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11, spanning a total gross floor area of around 170,000 m².

Taking the applications already received into account, Koelnmesse and the GFDI are once again expecting a new record participation for IDS 2019. Numerous enquiries from potential new exhibitors have especially been received from abroad. Furthermore, up until now twenty foreign group stands have already confirmed their participation.

IDS convinces with top marks from exhibitors and visitors The undisputed positioning of IDS as a world-leading international trade fair for the dental industry has also been impressively confirmed by the results of an independent exhibitor and visitor survey on IDS 2017. The event brought together in Cologne decision-makers from around the world from the dental profession, the dental laboratories, the specialist dental trade and the dental industry. This was a cause of great satisfaction among IDS exhibitors. 95 percent of German suppliers reached their key customers from the domestic market and 91 percent their key accounts from abroad. Of the foreign exhibitors, 98 percent had contact with their international customers and 79 percent with their German key accounts. 95 percent of the exhibitors established new contacts to potential German buyers. At the same time 93 percent of the German and 99 percent of the foreign suppliers established new international contacts. The IDS visitors were correspondingly satisfied: More than three quarters of those questioned are planning to visit the International Dental Show again in March 2019. The comprehensive product range and numerous new products ensured that 76 percent of the German and 82 percent of the foreign trade visitors rated the exhibition offerings of IDS 2017 as either very good or good.
