Karachi: The Department of Community Dentistry at Bahria University Medical & Dental College, Karachi, carried out an “Oral Health Awareness Lecture Session” on the 30th of september 2015, headed by Dr.Kulsoom Fatima , at The City Nursery, City School, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The session proceeded with an interactive lecture session delivered by Dr. Raima Bashir and Dr. Anum Sami (lecturers at the department of Community Dentistry BUMDC) to the children aged 2-7 years. The interactive session comprised an introduction about the importance of oral health and hygiene with pictorial presentations, practical demonstration of proper brushing techniques on models and videos to grab attention and develop understanding among the young students. All the pupils along with the teachers participated keenly and responded with interest to the dental checkup. The session concluded with the distribution of oral health education materials and oral hygiene kits sponsored by Colgate . The continuous support by Colgate is highly appreciated in this regard. The headmistress of the school appreciated the visit with words of gratitude, presented the team with a bouquet of roses & a card specially made by their students to show their gratefulness and emphasized that more of such activities should be conducted in the near future on continuous basis.
