PDC ORAL HEALTH PROGRAMMES


PDC Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Pakistan Dental Community (PDC) which aims to ensure better oral healthcare for economically disadvantaged people.

Over the past one year, PDC has been successfully conducting oral health outreach and awareness programs for under-served people of the community. With the strong commitment to work for the community, passion for voluntary efforts and upliftment of Oral health status across the country.
PDC Foundation, recently conducted Dental Hygiene awareness and free dental checkups programs at the “Ilm jo Sojhro School” and “Aly Mustafa School” in Hyderabad
Another event was held at Sirat Ul Jannah Orphanage in Karachi, supported by Nixor College’s NGO - “Adopt an Orphanage”. These programmes featured leading dentists like; Dr. Mubashir, Dr. Amtul, Dr. Abbass, Dr shahrukh, Dr.Hamza, Dr. Sana, Dr. Rehan and many PDC volunteers, under the supervision of Dr. Saima Butt, Dr. Syed Muhammad Faizan and Dr Mona Ansari.  Yet another program was organized in a school for street children at Azam Basti in Karachi, The programme included dental checkups done by; Dr. Erum Rashid, Dr. Syed Muhammad Faizan, Dr. Usman Rehman, Dr. Amtul, Zohra, Sara, and Virsha.
PDC has also expanded this outreach programme to Punjab, by conducting a similar event at “Madina Ul Ilm” in Lahore, with the support of the NGO - “Idara Aaghosh”. The Program was conducted by leading doctors like; PDC Associate - Dr. Syed Hammad, Dr. Abdullah Zaheer, Dr. Amna Sabeeh, Dr. Hammad Ahmad, Dr. Habiba, Dr.Naima, Dr.Taimoor Khan and Dr. Uzair Ahmad, along with a team of PDC volunteers
During this nationwide campaign hundreds of students aged between 5-14 years were screened for oral health problems by various teams of Dental Surgeons and PDC volunteers. Some prominent members of these teams included; Dr. Shaji Ahmed Memon, Dr. Ali Maqbool Khuwaja, Dr. Amar Essrani, Yusuf, Taranum Bano, Aisha, Sidra, Haris Saeed, Asad Hussain, Asad Baloch, Saad, Haris Naseer, Ahmed Khan, Haris Habib , Afaque, Ibad, Jehanzeb, M. Shoib, Hassan Memon, Soonhan Dayo, M. Ali, Arsalan , Jazib, Junaid, Sapna, Prena, Abdul Kudoos, Bakhtawar and Surhan Aziz.
The checkups were followed by oral health care educational activities to encourage good oral health practices among children by teaching them proper brushing technique, allowing the children to practice on Mannequins and models. The program included presentations and videos on dietary habits and oral hygiene maintenance, designed for active learning. Brushing charts were distributed along with free tooth paste samples to encourage routine brushing.
