Karachi: The Department of Oral Biology, Bahria University Medical and Dental College, organized a Poster Competition amongst the students of 1st year BDS. The purpose of this competition was to encourage students to participate in academically stimulating activities, to enhance their knowledge and polish their presentation skills and confidence.
The event was graced by the presence of Director General, Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmed HI (M), Dean BUMDC, Prof. Dr. Asadullah Khan, Principal Dental Section, Prof. Dr. Wahab Kadri, Vice Principal Medical Section, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Usmani and Vice Principal Dental section, Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi. The event was organized and supervised by Head of Department Oral Biology, Dr. Beenish Fatima Alam and Dr. Mamoora Arslaan, Senior Lecturer Oral Biology. The competition was judged by Dr. Nazish Fatima, Ziauddin University, Dr. Saad, JSMU and Dr. Saman Hakeem, HOD Prosthodontics, BUMDC.
The competition was among 10 groups of students. Based upon their poster content and esthetics, presentation skills and knowledge of the topics; winning and leading groups were chosen. The poster titled “Tooth Numbering System” stood first whereas the runners-up had topics on “Tooth Development” and “Canines – Morphology”.
In the end, each student was awarded a Certificate of Participation in appreciation for their efforts by the judges and organizers. Certificates of Appreciation were also awarded to the judges and organizers of the event. Director General, Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmed HI (M) applauded the students for their commendable efforts and encouraged organizing such activities, to keep the students engaged in academics and enjoy learning at the same time.
