Prof Ayyaz to contest PMDC elections

 
LAHORE-Prof Ayyaz Ali Khan, who is currently a professor of Community Dentistry at Shaikh Zayed Federal Postgraduate Medical Institute (FPGMI),iscontesting election to become Member of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for represing dental surgeons of Punjab. The elections are scheduled to be held on Jan 31, 3013. He also holds a concurrent appointment of Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of the Punjab. Prof Ayyaz Ali Khan graduated from de'Montmorency College of Dentistry, Pakistan in 1980. He did his M.Sc. in Epidemiology & Health Planning from University of Wales, U.K in 1989 and came back to Pakistan to work for Shaikh Zayed Federal Postgraduate Medical Institute in Lahore. In 2001 he qualified for a Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland. He also works as the National Coordinator and Executive Director of Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR). He is the Immediate Past President of IADR Pakistan and Examiner in six universities and CPSP. He sits on the Editorial Board of six local and international journals; and on the Board of Studies of three universities. He has been an Inspector of PMDC for many years. Professor Khan has been the National Coordinator of Oral Health for WHO projects in Pakistan from 2002-12 and Coordinator of Oral Health at the Pakistan Medical Research Council from 2001-2008. He has authored more than 100 publications and has an impact factor of 41.9; presented his work in 50 conferences and workshops. As a team member and leader he has successfully completed 27 field projects and won 11 grants. He has been part of the teams responsible for organizing 18 National and International Dental Conferences. He has also represented the country on international forums on numerous occasions.
