Karachi: Sports week was organized at Hamdard University for students of all faculties last month. Each Faculty was advised to send one team for every event but due to enthusiasm of dental students, Faculty of Health Sciences had been given a privilege to send two teams (BDS & MBBS) separately. The event was arranged by Students Affairs Department of Hamdard University, and selected students from all faculties served as volunteers under supervision of staff members.
Both individual & team games were organized, BDS teams participated actively in almost all events and showed much better performance than other teams despite limited number of students as compared to other faculties.
In badminton boys BDS team secured both first and second positions, Hassan & Ali Shan were the winners while Hamza & Hasssam were the runner up. In table tennis, Rabia and Noor was the runner up. In volley ball BDS team grabbed the title by defeating the Faculty of Engineering team; Sajid Khan was the captain of BDS team. In arm wrestling Hamza Bajwa from BDS secured 1st position while Attia Qurban was declared runner up in 100 Meter race after a nearly neck to neck contest. BDS teams secured 4th position in basket ball & cricket respectively.
BDS showed better performance than last year and due to this BDS team was able to obtain 3rd position among all faculties of Hamdard University. Dr Farhat, Dr Mehmood & Dr Umair were the Coordinators for this event for BDS team.
