KARACHI- Oral Diagnosis & Medicine Department of Sir Syed Dental Hospital organized an oral medicine quiz competition for 3rd year BDS students recently. The guest of honour was Dr H.R.Sukhia (Vice Principal, SSCMS & Head of Dental Section). The external judges of competition were Professor Tahir Ali (HCM&D) and Dr Ashar Afaq (Vice Principal, OIDC).with Dr Mahreen Shahzad (Head of Oral Diagnosis & Medicine Department, SSCMS) was the internal judge and chief organizer of the program. Dr Omair Sheikh (Incharge, Sir Syed Dental Hospital) was also the organizer and Dr Raheela Faraz & Dr Hira Jafrani were the co- organizers.
Participating in the quiz competition were four groups and each group comprised two students. Quiz competition was based on clinical cases and students had a chance to select their own case by doing balloting. Each group was required to solve 2 cases equally and they had only 1 minute to answer the question. The judges were to evaluate and marke different aspects of the quiz competition.
1st Prize was awarded to Saira Rafique & Maria Saleem of Group A; 2nd Prize went to Anila & Hafiza Fatima Mansuri of Group B; and 3rd prize was awarded to Shafaq & Salwa Ansari of Group C; and Zoeen Fatima & Amna Hanif of Group D. The winners were awarded by certificates as well.
At the end of the quiz competition, small consolation gifts were distributed to all audience.
