Turkey’s Altinbas University Visited BUMDC

Bahria University Medical and Dental College paid a visit to Turkey, back in 2017, in pursuit of bringing improvement in their current educational system, and to explore possibilities of future collaboration between medical and dental colleges in Turkey and BUMDC.


This year, the Turkish Delegation from Altinbas University visited Bahria University Medical and Dental College to ensure educational and research collaborations between the two universities.


The delegation comprised of 3 members namely; Dr. Ceren Gedikoglu - Head of Innovation and Research, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayca Dogan Mollaoglue and Prof. Dr. Feride Severcan. The delegation was welcomed by Director General Bahria University, Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmad HI (M).


The welcoming address was delivered by Dean BUMDC, Prof. Dr. Asad Ullah Khan followed by a briefing by Prof. Dr. Ambreen Usmani regarding BUMDC’s visit to Altinbas University in Turkey. Professor Nasim Karim introduced Bahria’s senior faculty to the delegation.


Prof. Dr. Feride Severcan Ph.D Physics Engineering Department, Professor Faculty of Medicine, Biophysics Department Altinbas University. She has many achievements to her name with 4 published books, 136 publications with 20 publications in impact factor journals. Dr. Feride Severcan presented her research on the topic “Disease Diagnosis By Infrared Spectroscopy As A Novel Method.”



The delegation was given a tour of the medical and dental sections of BUMDC by Dr. Kulsoom, Prof Navaid and Dr. Daud Mirza. The delegation also visited MDRL with Prof. Dr. Ambreena and Dr. Mehreen Latif.


Dr. Ceren Gedikoglu addressed the final year students of MBBS and BDS regarding the basic research and educational opportunities at Altinbas University, and discussed future collaborative research projects, through the Erasmus Program.


The Erasmus Program is an EU exchange student program, to provide foreign exchange options for students from within the European Union and involves many good universities. The program is aimed at cross-border cooperation between states to aid the growth of international studying, with over 4000 students involved in the program. It offers an excellent chance of experience abroad.


The Turkish delegation also highlighted the student and teacher exchange programs.


During the 3rd day of the delegation’s stay, Dr. Mehreen Lateef presented the progress on their collaborative research project. The delegation also visited PNS Shifa labs and radiology department.


Assistant Professor Dr. Ayca Dogan Mollaoglue, presented her research to BUMDC’s faculty members and students.


After finalizing topics, a research project was prepared between the two universities.
