World Oral Health Day ‘18 Celebrations at Institute of Dentistry, CMH

Lahore: World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is celebrated annually, by Oral Health Professionals globally; and is the culmination of a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness regarding the prevention and control of oral diseases.


WOHD spreads awareness regarding maintenance of good oral hygiene, along with practices that should be followed by adults and children, enabling them to avoid any unnecessary tooth related or oral cavity related pain or suffering, ultimately enjoying a better quality of life into old age. This day raises the profile of oral health on a global scale and educates people regarding the link between oral health and systemic health.


The theme for this year was, ‘Say Ahh: Think Mouth Think Health’.



The Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry, Institute of Dentistry, CMH Lahore Medical College, in association with Shield Oral Health Care, Pakistan demonstrated brushing techniques and instructed individuals on improving their oral hygiene.


Dr. Bilal Abdul Qayum Mirza, HOD, along with Dr. Asma Shakoor, Dr. Ali Anwaar and Dr. Adeel Ijaz Rana, provided free check-up and educational material to the patients attending their Outpatient Department at IOD, CMH Lahore Medical College and at the Cantonment General Hospital in Lahore Cantt.


The Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry fully endorsed this Annual Program and organized educational sessions at a large scale, to primarily reach school children. Such educational and awareness programs help the children in believing that oral health is an important aspect of their education and a vital part of their overall life.
