ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) recently cancelled the joint venture agreement with SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited. This company held Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Tests (MDCAT) in September 2021.

PMC, through advertisement, had invited bids for procurement of computer-based examination service and signed a 10-year agreement with SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited. They conducted an MDCAT  of around 200,000 candidates that was filled with controversies.

However, Aamir Masood, the representative of SOAR Testing and Evaluation Platform (SMC-private) Limited,  said the PMC had not informed us about the cancellation of the agreement, and he had learned it through the advertisement.

Dr Malik Shahid, General Secretary, Punjab, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), said it was a damage control attempt upon the cancellation of an agreement. He added, during hearings in Lahore and Islamabad high courts, it was proved that the company was hired against the rules.
