A concise, yet comprehensive guide for final-year dental students, ‘Operative Dentistry Made Easy’ is an efficient aid to present learning materials. The goal of this book is to teach students about restoring the form, function, and esthetics of the teeth affected by decay, trauma, or other factors in a more comprehensible reading style. This book comprises of an amalgamation of both the theoretical and clinical aspects of Operative Dentistry that can allow students to not only pass their exams but also maintain good clinical practice during their fourth year and house job.

Written by Dr Amir Ikhlas and co-authored by Dr Kalsum Amjad, the book has been written in an easy-to-retain format consisting of bullet points and definitions of basic terms such as Liner, Pulpotomy, Resistance form, and Retention form. These terms are essential for exam preparation during the final year of dentistry and are frequently asked questions during the viva. The book also comprises of clinical pictures, diagrams, and charts to prepare the student sufficiently for OSCE stations. 

The diagrammatic representation of the Tofflemire Retainer, the composition of restoration materials, and the characteristics of each restorative material including its capacity for marginal leakage and resistance to fracture, have all been covered in this guide, each explained meticulously.

The book also acts as a guide for crown preparations for a tooth, including the extent of reduction on each surface. Each chapter is an outline of the important aspects of the object, material, or process in question. It also covers the advantages and disadvantages of using each restorative material, and the post-operative effects this may have on the patient. 

Classification of dental caries, usage of amalgam for restoration, other filling materials and their types, Porcelain veneers, Bleaching, and the usage of pins to increase retention are all clinical aspects that this guide unfolds. The book has been fabricated, selecting relevant information from other foreign and local books available on the subject and is a compilation of around 45 books on Operative Dentistry

Operative Dentistry Made Easy provides an overview of the fundamental principles and techniques involved in the diagnosis and treatment of dental caries and other defects of the teeth. It compiles all the essential topics that a student may need to revise just before the exam, in order to strengthen concepts for an effective viva and OSCE preparation.
