Oral hygiene is important to avoid complicated orthodontic treatment: Seminar


KARACHI: The Sir Syed CDE committee held a session on 'Adult Orthodontics - Prevalence & Complications' at the Clifton campus.

Addressing the session, Prof HR Sukhia Principal Dental & Professor of Orthodontics highlighted the complications faced during the braces treatment of adult orthodontics. He stressed that the importance of oral hygiene during the tooth eruption periods is to avoid complications in treatment planning and results.

The session was attended by senior medical and dental faculty. Prof HR Sukhia told the audience that the responsibility of oral hygiene implementation lies with the dental community. Furthermore, he underlined that multiple carious lesions, tooth loss, crown-bridge and periodontitis is becoming more prevalent in the society by 3rd decade of life, which interferes with braces treatment to achieve ideal occlusion.


The session was followed by a QA session amongst the dental and medical fraternity. The event was praised by the SS Admin to promote continuing dental education in the institution.
