Students, police officials injure in clash outside PMC

ISLAMABAD: Some students and police officials were recently injured in a clash when the students tried to enter the premises of the Pakistan Medical Commission.

Students appearing in the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) have been staging a sit-in at Lahore. Some young doctors also reached Islamabad and, while protesting against National Licensing Examination (NLE), forcibly entered the premises of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).

The graduates reached outside the PMC offices where they blocked the road. They announced to lock the PMC offices if their demands weren't accepted. A large number of police officers were deployed outside the building.

When no one reached for negotiations, the graduates exchanged heated arguments with the police. After a clash with them, they forcibly entered the premises of the PMC. However, their leaders prevented them from entering the main building. Several protesters and police officials were injured during this conflict. Later several students were arrested by police.
