Be Kind To Your Dentists As They Have Fillings Too

We have often heard, 'In a world where you can be anything, be kind', but how often do we mean it? As a dentist, being kind is one pursuit that matters the most; however, does it only apply to the doctor?

Kindness – the common denominator

Every visit, it's normal to expect a doctor to be hospitable. When the visit is urgent, when we are in excruciating pain and scarcely listening while waiting for relief,  we thought kindness to be less essential. However, it is significant.

Suppose I were to ask you when was the last time you made a small effort for your dentist. The answer would probably be I don't remember! As a dentist, while our curriculum revolves around themes of empathy, the same cannot be said for the patients. But then again, is it something that needs to be taught?

Being kind to your dentist can develop a sense of comfort, but it can also reduce anxiety and boost confidence. The next time you meet your dentist, they might not remember your name (it's hard to admit, but it's the truth). However, they will remember that one compliment or gesture of goodwill you made in hindsight. And is there anything better than being remembered by your doctor? We don't think so.

Doesn't need a big gesture- a little thank you will work

At this point, you might be wondering how to be kind to your dentist? To break it to you, it doesn't have to be a big gesture; instead, just a small thank you at the end of your treatment or saying plain sorry after you missed your appointment last minute. It is one thing to expect empathy from your doctor but giving the same can also do wonders.

So the next time you visit your dentist for an appointment, don't forget to be a little warmer towards them because, just like you, they have feelings too ;)
