TAXILA: The community dentistry department of HITEC-IMS Dental College organised a dental camp at Mohra Shah Wali Shah, Taxila, under its Community Outreach Programme to provide dental care to underserved communities in the rural area and to offer its students an opportunity to engage in community service.
The camp organising committee comprised faculty members from the Dental College, house officers and a team of BDS 3rd-year students.
During the dental camp, the team conducted dental check-ups of 324 patients and imparted oral hygiene education to them.
The patients were also given forms, detailing their oral health issues and pamphlets listing all the free services being provided at HITEC dental hospital, along with the relevant contact information.
The team also distributed toothbrushes, toothpastes, and basic medications among the patients.
During the outreach activity, HITEC students assisted the professionals in providing dental services to the patients, gaining valuable experience in community outreach.
The camp provided much-needed dental care to underserved communities in a remote area, besides creating awareness among the locals about oral health and hygiene.
