KHANPUR: The Godsent Doctors recently arranged a Free Dental Camp at Mohra Moradu, near Khanpur, Punjab. The camp was a collaboration between The Godsent Doctors, Sehberg Trust, Kaizen Pharma and Rambler’s Adventure Club.

The Godsent Doctors is a social work venture to bring oral health care to the doorstep of underprivileged communities. Their vision is to improve the oral health of Pakistan and core values are empathy, ethics, sadaqah/charity, and honesty.

Therefore, this initiative aimed to provide basic information on oral and dental health and appropriate patient chair-side treatments. The advertisements were done a week before the event in banners and announcements in Mosques.

One of the primary goals of a Public Health Dental Camp is to increase awareness and educate people. Dr Mahrukh Zafar, Director, The Godsent Doctors) “We cannot always be there for them, but if we teach them how to take care of their teeth and mouth, they would not need us.”

The dental team comprised a team of doctors who were assigned health promotion. They demonstrated tooth brushing techniques to the community and educated them about proper oral hygiene practices and appropriate dietary habits.

A second-team conducted the screening by forming two out-patient units for diagnoses and redirection for possible treatments. About 125 patients were screened and educated regarding oral health at Mohra Muradu, Julian Khanpur, Punjab. This outreach camp also provided 21 GIC fillings, 14 extractions, and 16 scaling to the patients in need.

The dental camp had proper infection control and equipment for scaling and suction. All the doctors wore gloves and masks, and the disinfection protocol was followed. No more than three patients were allowed in the operating room, and a distance of 6 feet was maintained. Moreover, free toothpaste, mouthwashes and medicine samples sponsored by Kaizen Pharma were also distributed among patients.

After the camp, the doctors had lunch sponsored by Sehberg Trust and then went to Khanpur lake for recreational activities arranged by the Rambler’s Adventure Club.
