KARACHI: AO CMF, Switzerland organised a two-day Maxillofacial Trauma (MFT) international workshop recently. The course was conducted under the supervision of Course Director; Prof Noor ul Wahab, consultant and HOD Ziauddin University.
International faculty (Dr Issam Zairi and Dr Khalid Abdelgalil) and national speakers (Dr Noor ul Wahab, Dr Jahanzeb Mughal, Dr Adnan Aslam, Dr Gulraiz Zulfiqar, Dr Muhammad Shahab Ghani and Dr Tahera Ayoob) were invited to provide lectures and facilitate small group discussion and hands-on sessions.
The session was kickstarted by lectures on mid and upper facial trauma.
Furthermore, small group discussions on the zygomatic arch, zygoma-complex, orbit, lefort, nasal, and frontal sinus fractures were held. The first day of the session concluded with a detailed hands-on session using skulls and models, where the participants practiced to refine their skills of management of complex midface fractures.
Day two of the workshop was also dedicated to lectures on ‘Mandibular Trauma’, followed by small group discussions and a detailed hands-on session on mandibular fractures and complex mandibular fractures.
It was an interactive two-day workshop which was concluded on question-answer session, certificate distribution and positive feedback by the participants.
