Selling of Gutka and Mainpuri prohibited by SHC

Sindh: The selling of Gutka and Mainpuri is completely prohibited throughout the province, according to a decision from the Sindh High Court (SHC). 

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued an order prohibiting the sale of Gutka and Mainpuri throughout the province. The SHC heard a request to prohibit the sale of Gutka and Mainpuri throughout the province on Friday. A jury of the Sindh High Court was hearing a case against the province's Gutka and Manipuri enterprises when the DIG Special Branch and the DIG Hyderabad made an appearance. 

The court received a report from the trademark registrar. The SHC court mandated to ensure a complete ban on the sale of Gutka and Mainpuri and postponed a further review of the case until October 29. During the last hearing, the SHC issued an order directing the finalisation of the names of police officers running illegal products firms and the imposition of sanctions against them. 

The SHC had additionally stated that the details of the properties owned by the officers and higher-ranking members of the Sindh police involved in the sale of gutka and mawa should also be given before the court. The court also mandated that, if necessary, Sindh Rangers be called in to aid stop the selling of gutka and mawa.
