Prof. Liz Kay becomes new President of British Dental Association

LONDON: Professor Liz Kay, a dental professional and a public health specialist was recently appointed as the 135th president of the British Dental Association (BDA).

Professor Kay previously headed the BDA's Health and Science Committee and was the BDA's scientific advisor.  Recently she has been selected as editor of the BDJ's Evidence-Based Dentistry.

 Professor Kay took this role from President Russ Ladwa and assured fairness by keeping up the work done in the past and tackling the oral health problem.

Professor Kay completed her bachelors from the University of Edinburgh in 1982 and went to the University of Glasgow (UoG) to acquire her Master's Degree in Public Health. She remained there as a lecturer while doing her PhD and earning her Fellowship in Dental Surgery.

 She served as a Professor at and Head of the Orthodontics and Children's Department at the University of Dundee. She was also appointed as the inaugural Dean of Peninsula Dental School in the southwest. She has influential contributions to many other organisations as well.

Her research work includes over 250 scientific papers and journal articles. She has also been being an editor of six textbooks and has contributed several chapters to academic books.
