141 graduates awarded degrees at Bahria University Convocation

Karachi: The 6th Convocation of the Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC) was held to commemorate the academic accomplishments of its medical and dental students. Students were honored with medals and merit certificates for their outstanding achievements in their academic careers at the Convocation.

Minister of State for Health, Dr Zafar Mirza, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and conferred degrees upon 141 graduates of Medical, Dental, and Nursing. Dr Mirza, who is also the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, extended congratulations to the graduates on their success. 

'I am glad that the Bahria University Medical and Dental College has already reached a prestigious level of maturity with a special focus on grooming and capacity building of the faculty and students,’ he said. He advised the young graduates to be men and women of sterling character, have a positive attitude towards life, and sacrifice personal gains for the national interests.

Mirza appreciated the contributions of Bahria University and the Pakistan Navy in imparting requisite education and said that medical sciences were going through a phase of rapid evolution with the advancements taking place in the fields of biological sciences and allied technologies.

Medical and dental institutions, their faculty and students, therefore, must work together to upgrade the curricula continuously, skills-sets, pedagogical approaches, and transform their environment to be more learner-friendly and research-oriented. It is only then we can reach the pinnacle of success.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Shafiq HI (M), Rector, Bahria University, said that I am delighted to extend my gratitude to the medical and dental graduates on their commitment, hard work, and dedication in achieving this milestone successfully.

Bahria University believes in teaching its students with quality education. It is taking all measures to ensure that these standards are at par with other reputed medical universities in the country and abroad. He added that Bahria University is committed to its journey for attaining academic excellence and will continue to strive for progress in the fields of medical, dental, physical therapy, lab technologies, and nursing in terms of education and research.

Rector, Bahria University, said that it is a matter of great pride to highlight that we follow and implement rules and regulations in true letter and spirit. This is depicted by all our programs, which are fully endorsed by regulatory authorities whether it is the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) or the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC).

Senior officials of the education sector, naval officers, and parents of the graduating doctors attended the ceremony. Students participated in the ceremony with enthusiasm and expressed particular interest. They congratulated each other and appreciated the efforts of their teachers and seniors. They also lauded the performance of their institution where apart from curricular, they are provided with the best opportunities for personality grooming, well-being, and extra-curricular activities.
