Pakistan ends all COVID-19 health measures

ISLAMABAD: Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, recently stated that all restrictions established to halt the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country had been lifted, besides expediting the vaccination campaign to provide vaccine cover to 100 per cent population.

Addressing a press conference along with Dr Faisal Sultan, Adviser to Prime Minister on Health, at National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), Asad said that decision to lift restriction was taken after witnessing the continued decline in COVID-19 positivity ratio in the last eight weeks.

Furthermore, he stated that the number of hospitalised patients and critically ill patients have decreased, 

He further said that 70 per cent of the local population were provided full vaccine cover, adding that efforts were on to bring 100 per cent population under vaccine cover to end the pandemic from the country that would benefit socially and economically.

Asad said that currently fully vaccinated people were allowed air travelling.

He also thanked health workers, especially lady health workers, who played a key role and remained on the front line to provide their services to overcome this pandemic. He said that the disease was ending but not ended and called for taking a second dose of vaccine as soon as possible to further step forwarding to end the pandemic.
