University of Texas School of Dentistry and Straumann collaborate to launch digital treatment center

TEXAS: The UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry has entered into a unique collaboration with Straumann, a leading dental instrument company specialising in implant components and digital equipment and services, to establish a patient treatment center to provide digital dental services and treatment using modern technology.

The center shall provide up to the minute patient care while also building community learning for students, graduate residents, local practicing dentists and lab technicians. Straumann’s generous donation of cutting edge dental equipment shall allow for easy treatment for patients unable to afford treatment.

“The acquisition of all this equipment demonstrates the school’s and university’s commitment to providing our patients with the most advanced treatments,” said Richard Zimmermann, DDS, BS, clinical associate professor of comprehensive dentistry at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.

“And at the same time, this dedicated clinical technology center provides the dental community a place they can learn new and emerging technologies and workflows to improve patient care”

“It will offer the most forward-thinking technology that exists in the profession,” said Micaela Gibbs, DDS, MHA, chief dental officer at UT Dentistry, the dental school’s clinical practice.

“And the partnership will position UT Dentistry as a leader in the development of new digital applications in treatment of the most complex cases.”
