Lahore High Court asks PMC to cancel MDCAT

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has recently issued a notice to the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The notification sought a response on a petition asking for the cancellation of the ongoing Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) for not being held on the same day.

According to Section 18 (1) of the PMC Act (PMCA) 2020, MDCAT was to be held “on the same day” as “a single admissions test” to provide equal opportunity to all the candidates or students.

On behalf of a student petitioner, a senior lawyer alleged that the petitioner had to face several difficulties, impediments, and illegalities during the MDCAT and could not secure the desired result despite being a bright student.

The petitioner requested the LHC cancel the existing MDCAT, reschedule and keep it on the same day as mentioned in Section 18, PMCA 2020.
