RAWALPINDI: President Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi recently urged Pakistani doctors residing abroad to arrange online lectures for local physicians to be trained further.

Dr Alvi addressed the 5th International Scientific Conference at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) and said there was a need to improve the connections between doctors and patients further.

President said that 9 per cent of Pakistan population is infected with hepatitis. He stressed the need for preventive measures among people to avoid hepatitis and other diseases and emphasised changing the culture of unnecessary use of antibiotics. He also asked the doctors to create awareness among mothers about breastfeeding and discourage infant formula milk.

He said despite problems like illiteracy, people followed SOPs and took precautionary measures against COVID-19 and in this regard, ulema, doctors and others played their role. Therefore, to tackle the problem of population growth, he said, we should move towards long-term methods.
