Karachi: For the first time in Karachi, the Department of Oral Medicine & Periodontology Head by Prof Syed Imran Hasan, Principal Hamdard University Dental Hospital, Hamdard University, conducted a one day hands on workshop on Periodontal Splints on goat head for 3rd year BDS Batch 2022 students on 20th Sep 2022.
The session was started with the introduction, learning objectives and detailed lecture delivered by Dr Mehmil Aslam Assistant Professor Oral Medicine. The lecture emphasised the importance of splinting mobile teeth to maintain their functional position, types, benefits, risks, indications and procedures. A short video clip was also shown after the lecture.
The hands on activity on extra coronal wire splint was then started with each student given an individual goat head.

At the end of the workshop, written feedback was obtained. Certificate distribution was done, followed by lunch and group photos.
The workshop was well organised and a great step ahead toward an effective academic learning experience.
