COVID-19 Update: Pakistan records 13 new COVID-19 cases in a week

ISLAMABAD: Health authorities in Pakistan have reported 13 new coronavirus cases over the past week, according to data released by the National Institute of Health (NIH). The country's COVID-19 positivity rate stands at 0.76 percent, with no patients currently in critical condition. Fortunately, no new fatalities have been attributed to the virus during this period, even as 1,721 Covid-19 tests were administered.

In a move to bolster the nation's defenses against potential sub-variants of Covid-19, the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination has announced the reinforcement of Border and Health Services in Pakistan. This strategic measure aims to enhance preparedness and monitoring at all entry points, including airports. Rigorous rapid testing and passenger screening protocols will be implemented at these locations.

It is noteworthy that 90 percent of the country's population has already received the Covid-19 vaccine, underlining Pakistan's commitment to achieving widespread vaccination coverage.
