Sindh Health Minister rejects increase in drugs prices

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, rejected the increase in lifesaving medicine prices by the federal government.

In her statement, Azra Pechuho said that the federal government seems helpless in the face of pharmaceutical companies and their rising drug prices. She said that the price hike in 94 lifesaving drugs is an injustice with the people. The federal government can get relief for the masses from drug manufacturing companies through negotiation.

She said that the federal government has failed to provide relief to the masses in the health sector, and the government can provide these medicines on subsidized rates.

She further noted that the federal government could control the prices of lifesaving medicines by relaxing taxes to pharmaceutical companies.
