FDI responds to WHO draft on oral health

GENEVA: FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) has recently joined forces with sixty-five organizations to submit a joint acknowledgement in response to the public consultation for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) outline on Global strategy on tackling oral diseases.

The current strategy’s idea fully aligns with FDI’s Vision 2030, and it also applies to the three elements of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), i.e., quality, equitable access, and financial protection under the frame of oral health promotion and oral healthcare.

FDI and co-signatories urge WHO while supporting the draft for developing a global strategy that is strong, time-bound, and implementation-oriented, incorporating more areas that require reform for oral health in national health systems to become an integral element of UHC and non-communicable plans.
