By Tahira SaharKARACHI- Sports in themselves are an indispensable part of a student's life. University or college life without sports would be dull and lackluster. The DUHS' Annual Sports Week was held from Feb. 18th to 24th at DOW University Ojha Campus.It began with the inauguration ceremony at the hands of the vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan and Rana Masood, and students were provided with the sports t-shirts with the institution or faculty name printed on them. Institution that participated in the contest were Dow Medical College (DMC); Dow International Medical and Dental College (DIMDC); Dr Ishrat-Ul-Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS); Dow College of Pharmacy (DCOP); Institute of Medical Technology (IMT); Institute of Nursing (ION), and Institution of Health Management (IHM). There were both indoor & outdoor games and the competitors took part according to their respective interest. The indoor games comprising squash, table tennis, badminton, volley ball, throw ball, basket ball and net ball, were organized at the sports complex. There were a host of outdoor events that included cricket, football, hockey etc. And, then, towards the end of the event, was the talent show at which students demonstrated their talents in fields like Qirat, Naat, debates in English & Urdu. Then came the musical night where student showcased their skits and singing. Talent which proved to be major hit was full of excitement & entertainment contested between DIKIOHS and DCOP. The last of the Sports week comprised the prize distribution ceremony. as the dean read out the names of the achiever and the chief guest gave away prizes to each one of them. And thus the whole event that left behind a fond memory of winsome pursuits.
