Karachi: The 22nd Hamdard University Convocation ‘2018, was held at Abdul Moueed Hall within the main campus, Bait-ul Hikma Hamdard University.
All the students and their parents were seated in their allocated areas. The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the presentation of Hamdard University’s Annual Report by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shabib ul Hassan. Dean of each Faculty were invited on stage for the oath taking ceremony; included departments were, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Social Sciences. Medals were awarded to the students who scored highest marks in academics and Hamdard’s best graduate of the session was announced.
The President, Akhuwat Foundation, was Chief Guest on the occasion. He is Akhuwat’s Executive Director and main driving force since its inception in year 2001. Keeping in view, his experience and managerial skills along with volunteer services for poverty alleviation, he has been requested by the Government of Punjab, to lead two of its flagship programmes i.e. Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled. He has also been awarded with "Sitara-a-Pakistan" in 2010.
He praised the contribution of Hamdard University in the field of Education & Research. He encouraged the graduates to get involved in research based studies, in their respective fields. He elaborated the contribution in education & research by Akhuwat Foundation, by providing interest free loans to needy students. He also mentioned that, recovery of the loans is almost 100%.
Earlier, Chancellor Hamdard University, Madam Sadia Rashid, congratulated all the graduates and their parents. In her speech she addressed them regarding their new achievement and encouraged all to work hard with sincerity and utmost devotion, in order to raise the name of their Alma Mater further high.
The ceremony concluded with Dua-e-Saeed, presented by students of Hamdard Village School, followed by departure of the Academic Procession
Dr. Qasim was declared Best Dental Graduate of Hamdard Univerity & was awarded Shaheed Hakim Saeed gold medals. Head of Dental Section, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Hafeez congratulated all the dental graduates & their parents on this big achievement.
