Endodontic Symposium and Workshop, DDC

The Department of Operative Dentistry at Dow Dental College (DDC), recently organized an Endodontic Symposium, which consisted of a lecture followed by a workshop.

A comprehensive lecture on the “Inter-relationship of Multiple Factors as a Pathway to Success in Endondontics” was conducted by Dr. Wajih Jinnah, at the Ata-ur-Rehman Hall, DDC.

The lecture was attended by honorable Professor Arshad Hasan, Assistant Professors Operative Dentistry Dr Javeria, Dr Zareen, & Dr Ali, students, house officers, postgraduate trainees, and other faculty members.

Dr. Wajih Jinnah is a graduate of Baqai Dental College (BDC), who later on moved to Finland to pursue his specialization. He acquired an MSc degree in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Helsinki, followed by specialist training in Endodontics. Later, he acquired certification from the Cambridge Academy of Implant Dentistry. He now works for three different clinical practices in Lahti, Finland.

This symposium was organized to educate young dentists about the current trends and developments in the field of Endodontics.

Dr. Jinnah held an interactive session, where he shared his experience with junior dentists and encouraged them to critically analyze scientific literature in order to succeed. He discussed his journey from Baqai Dental College to Finland, moving onto few of his cases that he treated in Finland. Displaying the radiographs of his completed cases, he explained the thought process and planning that translated into success. He also discussed implantology, and shed light on the aspect of research currently being done in the field, and how it was changing the approach of various dentists across the globe.

A hands-on workshop was organized for postgraduate trainees in the Professional Development Centre of Dow Medical College. Dr Jinnah gave a brief introduction on the new system of ‘XP endo shapers’ and also demonstrated its use under the Dental Operating Microscope connected to a big screen; all workshop participants individually used the system under his supervision.

This was a great learning opportunity for all the students and trainees, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. DUHS has been conducting Continuing Dental and Medical Education programmes, signifying highest standards in both medical and dental fields, whilst improving the standards of education by facilitating their students to learn and practice more.
