ECC defers hike in Covid injection price 

KARACHI: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the  federal cabinet deferred the summaries for fixation of retail price of 54 new drugs and increase in prices of 119 others, including Covid-19 injection Remdesivir. 

The summaries were sent to the ECC by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination. 

The ECC, presided over by Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, also considered a summary of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination for fixing maximum retail price of Remdesivir 100mg injection and decided not to increase its price from the existing Rs1,892 per vial. The injection is administered to advanced stage Covid-19 patients. 
The meeting was also attended by Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Khan, Minister for Industries and Production Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr Aisha Ghous Pasha, Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha.
