A team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons of Nishtar Institute of Dentistry, in Multan, pulled out 430 teeth from the maxilla and mandible of a 14 year old boy.
The boy was suffering from Complex Odontoma and had hundreds of teeth in his maxilla and mandible. In the first step, surgery was performed on the maxilla alone, from where 252 teeth were extracted. The team was headed by Dr Saima Munir, Dr Sohail Fareed, Dr Khalil Ahmed, Dr Faizan Virk, Dr Ayesha Gull, Dr Fishan Ali, and Dr Muzammil who performed stepwise surgery at Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Anaesthesia team was led by Dr Aftab, Dr Sinthiya, and Dr Qasim.
The mandibular surgery was done as the second step after healing of maxilla, from where 178 teeth were extracted. The maxillofacial surgeons involved by Dr Saima Munir, Dr Sohail Fareed, Dr Khalil Ahmed, Dr Amjad Bari and Dr Qamar uz Zaman. OMFS Residents, including Dr Raza Zahid, Dr Hamdan, Dr Uzma, Dr Ahmad Gulzar, Dr Shahzad and Dr Maimoona, where also part of the syurgical team. Anaesthesia team comprised of Dr Aftab, Dr Asif Manzoor and Dr Fatima.
A record total of 430 teeth were are pulled out of the oral cavity of the 14 year old boy, Muhammad Madni, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Shujabad district Multan, Pakistan.
In previous literature, there is record of 232 teeth being extracted from a 17yr old boy’s mouth, in India.
