KARACHI- Renowned Haematologist – Dr Saqib Hussain Ansari, recently stated that; One pint of blood can save three lives and every healthy person can donate blood after every three months, which will also have a positive impact on the donor’s body.
He shared these views during a meeting with representatives of blood banks, who visited his office from Lahore. In-charge – Umair Sana Laboratory – Muhammad Akbar, Imtiaz Malik and others were also present on this occasion.
Dr Ansari stressed the need of introducing a high-quality centralized blood banking system in Pakistan, as non-existence of comprehensive blood banking is causing various problems. Thalassaemia suffering children depend on blood transfusion, but unfortunately the trend of voluntarily blood donation is not encouraged in the country.
He said Thalassaemia cases had gone up sharply in the country due to poor health infrastructure, which is an alarming situation. He emphasized the need of promoting voluntarily blood donation culture in the country. A healthy person can donate blood after every month as one pint of blood can save three lives.
