A young Pakistani Dentist pursues his dreams in global Research

His journey for knowledge and quest for learning may inspire many young Dentists who believe in the power of dreams. Dr. Mohammad Ahmed Javaid is deeply inspired by his father's words; “Allah asks of you to do “Ehsaan” i.e. excel in whatever you do. Pursue excellence not perfection. Constantly seek ALLAH’s help with complete faith, for Allah surely does not waste HIS subjects”. This young dentist completed his Bachelors in Dental Surgery in 2009 from Fatima Memorial College of Medicine & Dentistry, Lahore, enriching his personality with professional skills and competence. After the completion of his house job in April 2010, he joined Al-Shiekh Dar ul Shifa - a community service organisation, where he achieved record performance and was duly acknowledged by the Director. He successfully completed his Primary Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan in June 2011 and then began his MSc in Dental Sciences at McGILL University, Canada, where he received numerous honors and awards, including 3 Graduate Excellence Fellowship Awards, for three consecutive years (2011, 2012 and 2013). He was among the three outstanding students selected for Summer DFW Award. Due to his outstanding academic performance he was handpicked for the Graduate Course - "Artificial Cells", conducted by the famous inventor of Artificial Cells - Professor Thomas Chang, who has been twice nominated for Nobel Prize and is the winner of the highest Civilian Award of Canada. For three consecutive years, Dr. Javaid received the Graduate Excellence Fellowship Awards and was handpicked by Prof. Thomas Chang - the famous inventor of "Artificial Cells". He was selected as the only student on the Judges Panel for McGill University's Annual Graduate Research Day Oral Presentation Competition, where he evaluated the presentation skills of PhD candidates and Post Doctorate candidates. He has published four articles as first author, besides contributing four chapters in three different books. Dr. Ahmed Javaid was also granted a PhD position in the Dental Faculty at McGILL University. However he declined this offer to pursue his M.Sc in Craniofacial Sciences along with Diploma in Periodontics at The University of British Columbia, Canada (UBC). The UBC offers the most competitive Periodontics Residency program in Canada (a program accredited by Royal College of Dentists Canada for Fellowship and American Board of Periodontics for Board Certification). Currently, he is a resident in Periodontics at The University of British Columbia, which is expected to be completed in 2016. Dr. Ahmed Javaid advises young dentists and fellow students to put in their best efforts and capabilities, while consistently seeking ALLAH TA'ALAH’s help.
