Being a community oriented medical university, public health awareness has been the primary objective of Baqai. From time to time, different awareness campaigns are held to spread the word amongst the community in order to overcome and eradicate various health problems.
On the 4th of February Oral Cancer Day was celebrated in different primary healthcare centres of Baqai as well as the Baqai Medical University, organized by the Department of Community Dentistry, Baqai Dental College, Baqai Medical University.
The Primary healthcare centres consisted of the Baqai Medical Complex, Khuda ki Basti by Dr Asif Rasool, At the Baqai Medical Complex, Khushal Nagar Gharo by Dr Farhan Sufi, at F.W.C Layari by Dr Mohsin Abbas Abidi and also at the Fehmi Health and Education Centre, Gulberg by Dr Farhan Sufi.
In each centre, “Oral Cancer Awareness Walk” was held, where everyone gathered holding ply cards, signs and banners displaying risk factors and adverse effects of the agents that cause oral cancer.
In the health care centres, presentations and lectures were held on the topic of Oral Cancer.
Furthermore, free dental check-ups were also provided to the entire community at each health care centre. People were made aware of the disease and informed on how to keep a good oral hygiene.
