By Our Staff Reporter KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said here people were getting better health facilities in the wake of revolutionary measures taken by Sindh health department. He was speaking at a ceremony organized by the USAID as a part of Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) programme at its Clifton office. Briefing the minister about the USAID HSS programme, its chief Dr Nabeela Ali, said that its goal is to support innovative, cost-effective, quality programmes for strengthening systems around reproductive, maternal, and child health services. Lauding the programme, Dahar said that it was not only improving working of LHWs, but was also making up nutrition deficiency in certain districts of Sindh. He said that Rs502 million would be spent in collaboration with the USAID on District Action Plan to enhance health facilities in the province. Besides, Sindh health budget has been increased by 26 per cent from last year’s Rs43 billion to Rs57bn, he added. He said that nutrition of mother and child was being improved in Thatta, Tando Allah Yar, Dadu, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Umerkot, Nosheroferoze, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Ghotki and Larkana.
