Bolan Medical College holds Oral Health Awareness Programs in Schools

QUETTA: The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, Bolan Medical College (BMC), conducted two school oral health awareness programs in the outskirts of Quetta city. These events were aimed to promote positive oral health behaviors amongst school children. The programs included practical approaches for proper tooth brushing, information on healthy dietary habits, as well as the hazards associated with the consumption of betel nuts and carbonated drinks.

The team comprised of students from the second professional year of B.D.S who operated under the supervision of the senior dental faculty including Prof Dr Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Baloch (Head of Community Dentistry/Head of Dental Section), Associate Professor, Dr Hammal Nasser Baloch, Dr Ashfaq Khawaja Khail, Dr Erum Sami, Dr Mehwish Jaffery, Dr Fazal, Dr Palwasha, and Dr Ayesha Ajmal.

The participants of the programs included primary school children and their teachers. After each segment, the students were asked questions and gifts were distributed to those who answered correctly. Addressing the programs, Prof Dr Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Baloch highlighted the never-ending efforts of the Community Dentistry Department and hoped that such programs establish a positive and long term impact on the community. The administrations of the schools appreciated the efforts of the dental team and ensured their full co-operation in continuing the program in the future.
