KARACHI - The Dental section of BUMDC organized its 8th healthcare outreach under the banner of Community Support program, recently, at Foundation Public School, Elementary Campus. Since awareness to oral health and in turn prevention of oral diseases should be incorporated at an early age, the aim was to educate the young children on the importance of their oral health and preservation of sound dentition.
The program was led by Dr. Kulsoom Rizvi, HoD Community dentistry and managed by lecturer Dr. Anum Sami, Dr. Mamoora Arslaan and Dr. Ayesha Anjum. It commenced by an interactive lecture session on general knowledge of oral cavity, healthy diet practice and methods of oral hygiene care to grade 3 students, plus a demonstration on tooth brushing techniques along with animated videos were shown to kindergarten students. A total number of 292 students were addressed and in the end attractive educational brochures and oral hygiene kits by Colgate were distributed amongst the pupils. The program evoked a good response from both children and teachers.
