KARACHI- Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry of Bahria University Medical and Dental College (BUMDC) conducted its 6th Dental Outreach under Community Support Programme (CSP) at Bahria College PNS Karsaz Primary Section.
The team comprising second-year dental students was assisted by lecturers of Dental Section – Dr Raima Bashir and Dr Anum Sami – under the supervision of Dental Section’s head of Community Dentistry department and Vice Principal Dr Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi.
The purpose of the trip was to educate around 450 students of Class-III to V about the importance of good oral hygiene as well as to create awareness among them about common oral diseases.
Presentations were made with attractive animated slides with an emphasis on brushing technique and healthy eating habits. A demonstration of correct tooth brushing technique was also given on models while pamphlets containing useful information were distributed among the students. The students were examined for oral diseases and those requiring care were invited to the dental OPD of BUMDC for free consultation and good quality treatment.
BUMDC will conduct more outreach programmes in next two years under its Community Support Programme at naval schools and residential areas.
