Jamshoro- Liaquatian Welfare Society (LWS), BDS Chapter conducted a remarkable seminar this month on career counseling for undergraduates. It was indeed a praiseworthy event led under the leadership of the society’s coordinator, Dr Jazib Memon (lecturer Operative Dentistry), and president, Sanjeet Damani (Final year, BDS). The remaining team included Maheen Murtaza, Zaynab tariq , Lucky, Muhtassim, Amna Shahid, Absar khan, Rafey, Fozia, Huda, Roshan, Ali, Wasio and Muntaha. This team of 15 members brilliantly executed a massive event, which was not only attended by the students of LUMHS, but also students from other universities in Sindh. 250 undergraduates, 70 house officers, 50 postgraduates, 50 alumni of LUMHS; 100 students from Isra Dental College; 100 students from Bhitai Dental & Medical College; 50 students from Karachi universities, including DUHS, Ziauddin, JPMC and JSMU were in attendance. Whole team was highly appreciated for their management and efforts by all the faculty members.
The event proved to be very informative for the undergraduates as different sessions were held, wherein many renowned dentists from all across the world shared their experiences in different fields of dentistry. The speakers included Prof. Ghazanfer, who delivered a presentation on post-graduation in Ireland; Prof. Feroze Ali, who talked about Fellowship program in Pakistan; Dr Erum Khan, spoke on Ph.D in Dentistry; Dr Salman Shafique enlightened the participants about the ins and outs of Masters in Dental Surgery; Dr Nadiya Inayat shared her knowledge regarding qualifying in the Canadian Board; Dr Ranjeet briefed on the job opportunities in UAE; Dr Ausaf Anwar gave a comprehensive presentation on the Master’s Program in Germany on Implantogy; Dr Shaji Ahmed talked about ORE; Dr Amna Nayer gave a talk on NBDE USA. All the speakers spoke from experience and therefore were able to get their messages across effectively. Dr Jazib Memon gave motivational speech for UGs, sharing his journey as best graduate of his batch.
Moreover, Dean of Dentistry Dr Feroz Ali Kalhoro delivered a great presentation motivating the students in their profession. He highly supported and appreciated the idea of arranging such healthy events. Dr Sajjan Halepoto, Prof Ghazanfar, Dr Erum Khan, Dr Salman Shafique and Dr Salman Shams helped the Society in every possible way in order to make it a successful event. VC LUMHS Prof. Beekha Ram Sahab along with his team, especially Registrar LUMHS Dr Murtuza Dayo, also participated in the event; he praised the effort of the organizing team on bringing out such an instructive event.
Liaquatian Welfare Society, BDS Chapter set a landmark by conducting such a massive and fruitful event. Everyone is looking forward to upcoming the social events by this society.
