Karachi: Competitions play a role in encouraging students and offers them a chance to gain significant experience, and analyze personal abilities.
The Department of Community Dentistry, Baqai Dental College under the supervision of Head of Department Prof. Dr. Asghar Ali Shigri and his team members, Dr. Mohammad Ali Leghari, Dr. Samreen Shafqat, Dr. Mahwish Bano and Dr. r Raza Abbas Abidi arranged a Quiz competition for the students of 2nd year BDS.
Honorable judges invited to judge the participants included; Dr. Mohammad Nadeem Baig, Assistant Professor, Community Dentistry, Clinical Director Dental College Al Jouf University, Saudia Arabia and Prof. Dr. Asghar Ali Shigri, HOD Community Dentistry, BDC.
Dr. Raza Abbas Abidi welcomed the esteemed judges and participants, and introduced them to the rules of the quiz competition and also maintained the score charts of this show.
The students enthusiastically took part in the event. The best 4 teams qualified for the semi-finals. After a really tough competition, 2 teams reached the final round. Both groups played very well but the time-breaker was held and the winning team consisted of students, Rahima Khan, Muhammad Ghazni Qureshi, Quratul Ain Abid Hussain and Shehzor.

Dr. Shigri appreciated the team members for well-organizing and conducting the event. Dr. Kashif Ikram Principal BDC and Dr Talha Vice Principal BDC appreciated the efforts of Community Dentistry’s department for establishing such an educational and competitive learning program, that not only improved student’s learning abilities but also helped them in building self-confidence. Furthermore, Dr. Talha added that, such competitions will be conducted on regional scales in near future.
