Dental symposium Nisar Khuhro administers oath to PDA (Sindh) DN Report

Karachi —  The newly-elected officer-bearers of Pakistan Dental Association's (PDA)  Sindh Chapter, took oath of their offices at an impressive ceremony held at Karachi Arts Council. Sindh Assembly Speaker, Mr Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, who was the chief guest on the occasion administered the oath to the office-bearers and cabinet members of the PDA (Sindh). Those who took oath on the occasion are: Dr Mahmood Shah as President, Dr Kashif Ikram (Senior Vice President), Dr Syed Shah Faisal (General Secretary), Dr Ghulam Ali Siyal (Finance Secretary), Dr. Nazeer Samoo, Dr.Imran Ahsan, Dr.Talha.M.Siddiqui, Dr.Nasir Khan and  Dr.Rafiq Moosa; (Vice Presidents) and Dr.Munawar Baluch(Joint Secretary). The academic and executive council members were also administered the oath. They include:

Speaking on the occasion, PDA's Sindh Chapter President, Dr Mahmood Shah, apprised the gathering about his vision concerning the Association's revival and vowed to work for the progress and betterment of both the dental profession and the dental fraternity without any or fear or favour. The welcome address was presented by the PDA (Sindh) general secretary, Dr Syed Shah Faisal while the Association's Senior Vice President, Dr Kashif Ikram, gave vote of thanks. Dr Talha M. Siddiqui conducted the ceremony. A symposium was also organised on the occasion. Three different scientific sessions on the subjects relating to Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Implantology, were organized. Those who presented their papers at the scientific session included Dr Hasnain Sakrani, Dr Babur Ashraf, Dr Ambreen Afzal, Dr Abrar ali, Dr Feroze Ali, Dr Faisal Aziz, Dr Sameer Qureishi, Dr Fazlur-Rehman,Dr Irfan Qureishi and Dr Bilal Sheikh. Participants of the delegates took keen interest in all the scientific sessions. The scientific sessions were followed by a lively panel discussion on "Dental Education and Career Perspectives". Dr Mahmood Shah spoke at length, highlighting the factors responsible Pakistan's ailing dental education system. The panelists included Prof. Mahmood Haider, Dr Mahmood Shah, Dr Noor Ahmed Khoso and a representative of College of Physicians and Suregeons, Pakistan (CPSP), Prof Khalid Ashrafi. Prof (Dr) Kashif Ikram was the moderator of the discussion programme. The panel discussion programme was followed by lively question-answer session. Later, the PDA (Sindh) with a view to boosting its revival activities launched its news bulletin and a website.
