Dr Inayatullah Padhiar- the selfless dentist- whose services to dentistry are finally acknowledged, has been nominated to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, a prestigious civil award, in recognition of his services rendered to dentistry. It's a proud moment for the entire dental fraternity.
President Dr Arif Alvi has decided to confer Civil Awards on one hundred and twenty seven Pakistani citizens and foreign nationals for their excellent work in various fields. These awards will be given at an investiture ceremony on Pakistan Day on 23rd of this month.
Pakistan’s highly lauded dentist Dr Inayatullah Padhiar has been nominated for the civil award, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, which is the third highest honour and civilian award in the State of Pakistan. It recognizes individuals who have made an "especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of Pakistan, world peace, cultural or other significant public endeavors". Dr. Inayat’s academic journey and professional career make an inspirational story not only for his countrymen but for any and every person associated with dental profession, and academic and medical writing. He, after graduating from LUMS in 1974, worked with Pakistan Dental Association to host big dental conferences and in 1987 became editor of Journal of the Pakistan Dental Association. Dr Padhiar also received lifetime achievement award from Pakistan Dental Association in 2012.
Currently, Dr Padhiar owns his private practice; he is an editor for Journal of Pakistan Dental Association (JPDA), and a senior teacher at Fatima Jinnah Dental College. His professionalism, skill and compassion has earned him immense respect and appreciation among his colleagues, students and patients.
