Floss n Flaws: Social media can carve your way for the better

Ideally, fulfilling one's dreams is not an option for many; however, balancing passion with your profession is a gift. Drs Abeer, Rida, Warisha and Warda, four different impressions, practising the same job, believes in spreading smiles to reflect positivity in one’s life.

These four girls created an Instagram page, 'flossnflaws,' to show that social media is the best way to express oneself and spread awareness among the different generations. The page has reached up to 45 k followers, with the count increasing daily, highlighting the power of digital marketing.

Digital content creation is a new hype in the e-commerce market. Influencers are surging rapidly, especially women, creating content to captivate the target audience with a source of income. Nonetheless, standing out among the crowd is not a piece of cake. In the midst, these talented young boomers took the initiative to create and market digital content at a new level through Instagram blogging, featuring fashion, style and music.

The group's purpose was to show that people with different personalities and interests can evolve and grow in diverse directions while pursuing the same profession. This sets a perfect example for ‘dentistry and beyond’.

The COVID turmoil is an eye-opener for many people. It made them realise the importance of digital presence and the need for alternatives to earn their living in rough times. In their opinion, “Social media is a platform that provides an opportunity to gain more than to invest. However, receiving content appreciation is a miracle that is necessary for maintaining website traffic.”

Going viral overnight

The girls were overwhelmed when their group hit 45,000 followers. Dr Warisha gained a significant following of many well-known celebrities, especially Sadaf Kanwal, due to mere resemblance and amazing impersonations sided by Wardah’s mesmerising singing.

Floss n Flaws' creators believed that personal growth and development never stop and go beyond the degree's scope. Dr Wardah sensed, “Currently, the job market is getting saturated day by day; thus, a better way to continue living is through polishing your talents and engaging in what you love.”

Balancing social life and work/academic life is indeed no easy task. Nevertheless, a driving force and support are all one needs to carry on what they love.

Importance of Social Media

According to Dr Abeer, “Gaining recognition from social media platforms is another way to promote and create awareness regarding the importance of oral health and hygiene. Thus, this way, it becomes easy to approach millions of people through just one post.”

Content creation is a technical type of inbound marketing strategy, which relies on the viewer's support. Although it appears to be simple, updating the social media account with creative and novel content adds strain. Dr Rida recalled, “Both fields equally require a lot of time, effort and energy. However, content creation adds up a little challenge as we transit between unique concepts and new ideas.”

Advice for All

With the surging competition, there is a need to diversify yourself to cover gap areas in the job market and gear up to the incoming challenges.
As Dr Warish says, “Engaging in regular studies is important but take some time for yourself to explore and pursue your passion. This way, you won't stress yourself out and multitask efficiently.”
